Immunoglobulin Therapy

IVIG is made from the antibodies of blood from about 20,000-30,000 people or so I was told by one of the nurses who administers the infusion.  These infusions help boost the immune system of patients who have low immune system protection due to on-going cancer treatments.

In previous years, many of the people who died of cancer actually died from contracting other diseases as a result of a low immune system and not from the actual cancer itself.

IVIG stays in the body for about 3-4 weeks and I was receiving monthly infusions every month until the healthcare industry started experiencing shortages and my treatment was stopped because I was not experiencing a life threatening situation.

After about 18 months of not receiving any IVIG treatments and because I was getting constant infections, I was put back on receiving IVIG every other month which only had minimal influence.  My Oncologist last month said he was writing an order for monthly IVIG infusions and I will find out today if that order was approved.

COVID Vaccine

On Thursday April 1, 2021, my second COVID Vaccine shot took affect and my COVID protection was at 96%...  and, the Public Health Nurse who gave me my shot told me that I no longer (after April 1) had to wear a facemask or social distance unless I wanted or or unless it was required.

This is the SCIENCE and according to President Biden, we should follow the science... and, while that may or may not be true or factual to think that way, I am still concerned especially with my age and health condition that I should be especially careful...  and so, required or not required, I still plan to social distance and wear my facemask.

I am in my 14th year of receiving cancer treatments for non-Hodgkin's "B" cell Lymphoma while at the same time, I am in my 7th year of receiving treatment for metastatic Melanoma leaving me anemic and with an extremely low immune system...  so, it does not take much for me to get sick...  therefore, whether I like it or not, I MUST BE CAREFUL.

My cancer treatments have screwed up my THYROID and so I am taking medication to regulate that properly and recently I have been feeling more fatigued than usual so I am wondering if my medication needs to be increased...

Once you start treatment for one illness, other illnesses will somehow seek you out.
