COVID Vaccine

On Thursday April 1, 2021, my second COVID Vaccine shot took affect and my COVID protection was at 96%...  and, the Public Health Nurse who gave me my shot told me that I no longer (after April 1) had to wear a facemask or social distance unless I wanted or or unless it was required.

This is the SCIENCE and according to President Biden, we should follow the science... and, while that may or may not be true or factual to think that way, I am still concerned especially with my age and health condition that I should be especially careful...  and so, required or not required, I still plan to social distance and wear my facemask.

I am in my 14th year of receiving cancer treatments for non-Hodgkin's "B" cell Lymphoma while at the same time, I am in my 7th year of receiving treatment for metastatic Melanoma leaving me anemic and with an extremely low immune system...  so, it does not take much for me to get sick...  therefore, whether I like it or not, I MUST BE CAREFUL.

My cancer treatments have screwed up my THYROID and so I am taking medication to regulate that properly and recently I have been feeling more fatigued than usual so I am wondering if my medication needs to be increased...

Once you start treatment for one illness, other illnesses will somehow seek you out.

Social Distancing

When I was visiting with my Orthopedic Doctor, we had a discussion about wearing/not wearing a face mask since everyone but him was wearing a face mask and what prompted the discussion was the fact that I asked him why he was not wearing one.  He explained that all the SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE points to the fact that face masks do not protect individuals from catching anything unless they are made with .5 micron fabric like the N95 masks.

If an individual is SICK then wearing a face mask keeps from spreading the sickness to OTHERS but does nothing, if anything, to protect yourself.  It may make the individual feel better but it giving that person a false sense of security.

WHAT WORKS:
1.  Social Distancing - keeping 6 feet between you and someone else
2.  Washing Hands - thoroughly and often
3.  Cleaning Touched Surfaces

I have no problem social distancing from others but I fear that OTHERS don't share the same safe guards and since I have anemia and a very low immune system due to a low white blood cell count, I have to be particularly vigilant in the way that I move around in public, making sure that I keep my distance and do not rely on others to do it for me.

WHAT if...

The Covid-19 Pandemic has a second wave of infections because Americans did not social distance, wear face masks, and did not thoroughly wash their hands?
Who would be to blame?

Sunday Morning

At my age, the days of the week pass by as quickly as passing gas after eating Southern Style Pinto Beans and corn bread...

Tomorrow, I have a PET scan to RESTAGE MY CANCERS...  so, what exactly does that mean?  Scans, such as CT/PET scans are performed to determine is the cancer is growing or if it has decreased or if it has spread to another other locations or if there are any new cancer origins...

This new staging data will be used to determined future treatment and if the current treatment is still working.

And while this is a necessary activity, my senses and feelings are alerted because of COVID19 and the fact that I really should be staying at home.

So, tomorrow, I will wear a face mask and gloves when I enter the hospital...

Today,
I feel fatigued and sleepy even though I sleep 10 hours last night and only got up once to pee which is amazing because I am usually up for that 2-3 times each night.

I cannot allow myself to take a nap today because I need to wake up at 5:30 am tomorrow...

BEGINNING TODAY

All future articles for this blog will appear on my other blog:  JOURNAL FOR DAILY PAGES....  all the internal page links have been switched...
